Falcons finish off Sweets for sixth win in seven games

Kelowna takes 2 of 3 from Walla Walla, heads out on the road

The Kelowna Falcons continued to roll on Sunday nights as they knocked off the Walla Walla Sweets 5-4 in West Coast League action at Elks Stadium.

Brady Miller worked six innings for Kelowna, picking up his 4th victory of the season, as he allowed just 1 earned run and hits hits in his outing.

The Falcons got on the board in the 2nd inning as Brandon Grimsley and Kyle Plantier each had RBI singles back to back with a pair of outs on the board.

Kelowna made it 3-0 in the 5th when Hunter Villanueva picked up a Sac Fly to score Grimsley, who finished with three hits.

Walla Walla got a pair in the 6th off of Miller after an error and three wild pitches to make it 3-2.

The Falcons jumped back out ahead with two more in the 6th when Justin Flores singled and Andre Jackson drove in another with a Sac Fly.

The Sweets would not go away putting another deuce up on the board against Alex Webb on 3 straight hits, including two doubles.

Dalton Blackwell worked a scoreless 9th inning for his 5th save.

Other highlights for Kelowna included Brandon Oliver throwing out four baserunners in the first five innings, erasing any thought the Sweets had of scoring early.

The Falcons head out on the road to Wenatchee to take on the AppleSox in the first of six straight ballgames Monday. Kelowna (21-9) leads the WCL East Division by four games over Yakima Valley.
