Fresh off a three-game sweep of the Port Angeles Lefties, the Kelowna Falcons return home Friday night to open a three-game West Coast League series against the Gresham Greywolves.
The clubs will play a doubleheader at Elks Stadium, with the first of two seven-inning games starting at 5 p.m.
Fans will get two games for the price of one.
The Falcons and GreyWolves were to have opened the series last night in Kelowna, but the game was postponed and moved to Friday.
Kelowna and Gresham will also play on Saturday night.
In Port Angeles, the Falcons gave up far more run than they would have liked, but scored 25 of their own to sweep the series.
After a pair of 8-7 wins on Monday and Tuesday, the Falcons beat the Lefties 9-6 last night.
The Falcons bats exploded in the final two innings scoring five runs in a comeback win. Down by a pair heading into the eighth, the visitors showed great character getting RBI hits from Taylor Wright, Davis Todsichuk and Bo Meiklejohn to take the lead.
After Jake Roes made his Falcons debut out of the pen and shutdown the Lefties, the offence continued to work. In the top of the ninth they tacked on two more runs. Chris Arpan knocked in Jake Malone before Wright scored on a Connor Gurnik fielder’s choice.
The nine runs scored was an offensive high for the Falcons this season. Malone tallied three hits and drove in a pair of runs, as did Meiklejohn on two hits.
Starter Niall Windeler threw seven innings, giving up six runs on nine hits while striking out three. Roes collects the win after throwing two innings of shutout ball and Braydon Price locked down the game with a save.
