The Kelowna Falcons limped home to begin a six game home stand Monday night after a road trip that had lots of potential but saw the Falcons win just twice in nine games away from Elks Stadium.
The Falcons closed out a nine game road swing in Victoria on Sunday where for the the fifth time in six games in Victoria, the Falcons jumped out to a lead in their first at bat but ultimately lost the game.
The Falcons belted four home runs on Sunday, took a 2-0 lead after the first inning but ended the game on the wrong side of a 9-5 score in the season finale with the Victoria Harbourcats.
The Falcons are now 7-20 on the season, 10 games behind first place Wenatchee in the West Coast League’s North Division as they arrive back in Kelowna for six straight games at home.
Sunday in Victoria saw Stetson Olson hit a two run home-run in the first inning, his fourth of the season, to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. Kelowna then took a 4-1 lead in the second courtesy of the long ball as Jarryd Klemm and AJ Young would go deep for the first time this season.
After scoring once in the fifth to make the score 4-2, Victoria took the lead in the sixth, scoring three times off falcons starter Nolan Savage.
The Falcons tied the game on Young’s second home-run of the game, a solo shot with one out in the eighth but Victoria would take the lead for good in the bottom of the inning with as Alex Real hit a grand slam off Falcons’ reliever Darren Kolk, who suffered his first loss of the season.
The Falcons completed their nine game road trip 2-7 and began a six game home stand on Monday night against the Cowlitz Black Bears.
