Falcons’ Marris stellar in WCL win over Cowlitz

Right-handed pitcher fires shutout Friday night in Kelowna

The Kelowna Falcons faithful on Friday night was treated to another outstanding pitching performance from their ace Brandon Marris.

The 2011 Falcons’ Most Outstanding Pitcher tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout beating the Cowlitz Black Bears 4-0 in West Coast League play at Elks Stadium to take two of three games in the series.

Marris would face 33 batters and throw 110 pitches, striking out six to win his second of the summer.

The Falcons offense would help Marris’ cause by compiling 10 hits including two from Jace Conrad and Kyle Moses.  Conrad would finish a perfect 2-2 with a run scored and an RBI.  Tyler Qualls continued his assault on opposition pitching by hitting his fourth double of the year, and knocking in his team leading eighth RBI.  Greg Friesen picked up his first RBI of the season.

The Falcons record jumps to 5-3 as they hit the road for a quick three game series in Kitsap.  They swept the Bluejackets earlier this week adding to their 10 game losing streak.

On Tuesday the Falcons return home to begin seven straight at Elks Stadium when they host the Walla Walla Sweets and Bend Elks.  Gates open at 5:30pm, first pitch at 6:35pm.
