Cariboo race fans will be flocking to the Gold Pan Speedway this weekend (Sept 15-16) for a jam-packed two days of prime stock car excitement.
The track will play host to the Tri-City Street Stock final, The Wescar points final, the Prison Towing Mini-Stock points final and the Mini-Stock invitational as well.
The overall event is known as the Fall Classic and has been a Quesnel staple for over 12 years according to Quesnel Auto Association member Kathy Spooner.
“It’s the final race of the year,” she says. “And with the Tri-Cities we can get upwards of 20 street stock cars making it interesting racing.
“It’s like crash-to-pass… but hopefuly without the crashing.”
Between 12 and 15 racers are expected to take part in the Wescar race including #51 Jarret Bonn, #71 Dave Olsen and this summer’s winner, #47 Trevor Adelman.

It was Adelman’s first win at home and he will be gunning to make it a repeat.
Concessions will be on offer at the top and in the pits and a 50/50 draw will be held by the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department.
Organizers will be crossing their fingers that Mother Nature allows for a smooth race.
“I think it’s going to go pretty well, as long as it doesn’t rain,” says Spooner.
“We won’t even use the four-letter word that begins with an S and ends with a W.”
The cars don’t run winter tires and don’t run anti-freeze in the cars so we definitely don’t want it too cold.”
