The Valley Huskers finally found their offence, putting 24 points on the board in a Saturday BC Football Conference game in Nanaimo.
But they lost their defence in a 55-24 loss to the Vancouver Island Raiders.
The winless Huskers (0-3) stunned their hosts, leaping out to a 17-0 lead after one quarter. But the Raiders had the deficit down to 17-10 at the half, and blew Chilliwack’s doors off in the second half, out-scoring the visitors 45-7.
Nathan Berg led Nanaimo’s attack — the running back rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns.
The Huskers did most of their damage through the air, with quarterback Noah Falconer completing 24 of 37 passes for 367 yards.
That included TD tosses to Mike West (two) and Keenan Godden, but Falconer was also intercepted twice.
Nanaimo’s Josh Paisley ran one of those back 102 yards for a major.
West led Chilliwack’s pass-catching crew with nine grabs for 173 yards while Godden snagged four for 115.
Chilliwack still hasn’t found a ground game, generating just 22 rushing yards on 10 carries.
Defensively, Josh Wice came up with a fumble recovery and Tyler McStravick had an interception.
Brendan Kohls had 1.5 quarterback sacks with James Sturgeon (one), Mason Paleck (one) and Travis Dietrich (.5) also getting to Raider pivot Jacob Laberge.
Chilliwack remains on the road next weekend, travelling to Langley.
