Fathers, families dust off the fishing gear

12th Annual Lac la Hache Father's Day Fish Derby looking for fishers

The 12th Annual Lac la Hache Fathers Day Fishing Derby is slated for June 16-17.

Coincidently, it is the one weekend of the year a fishing licence is not required for British Columbians.

There are cash prizes for the largest fish, $400; second largest fish, $250; largest rainbow, $100; and largest whitefish, $100. There will also be a number of hidden weight prizes available to be won. Every derby ticket holder will also have his or her name entered into a bonus draw for the many prizes that have been generously donated.

Hamburgers and hotdogs will be available on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at Kokanee Bay Resort on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Tickets are available at Kokanee Bay Resort, Lac la Hache Food Mart, Donex Pharmacy & Department Store in 100 Mile House, and Chilcotin Guns in Williams Lake. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and under.

The funds raised by the Lac la Hache Father’s Day Fishing Derby Society get distributed to a number of organizations in the community.
