Play is heating up in the Sooke Men’s Fastball League playoffs.
Two games were held last week with the Hammers taking on the Pirates and Fenway battling Compass.
In the Hammers-Pirates match up, shortstop Ben Edgington and pitcher Scott Lieph knocked two homers over the fence as the Hammers went on to win 9-0.
Lieph was the winner pitcher, while Jarod Cooper took the loss.
In the second game of the week, Fenway doubled up on Compass by a 2-0 score.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the third when Fenway center fielder Nick Medwedrich had a base hit, which was followed up by a homerun off the bat of pitcher Shawn Koster.
Koster was the winning pitcher, and Matt Underwood suffered the defeat for Compass.
Games continue next week at Art Morris Park, with the championship game on Thursday.
