Temperature and scores plummet in the barn at Barlow

T

he Barn on Barlow hosted the feature match of the morning as the Serenity side put their five game winning streak on the line versus Fraser River and came out smiling with a 3-2 victory that wasn’t solidified until the final minutes.

With the temperature inside the rink less than what is required in a meat locker, Serenity’s Wade (The Blade) Fenton proved that he’s no flash in the pan as his marker that opened up the scoring was his rather bodacious sixth in his past three games!

Notching his first of the year was Rob (The Rock) Lentz and it was none other than Lee (We don’t need another hero) Naeth who made like the Road Warrior and boomeranged the winner into the net.

Making like Adam Oates clones were Darcy (Dr.) McGillivray and Todd (Terrific) Gryschuk who combined to baffle the opposition before dishing off saucers for the Builders last two tallies.

Replying for the Chevy Crew was their top two models as Kevin (Camaro) Hesslegrave and Shane (Silverado) Baker continue to lead by example.

The other contest definitely had a Déjà-vu feel about it as Bear built a lead and tried to cling to it as best they could and, despite Jimmy making another phantom call, this time they were lucky enough to beat BCS in regulation, 4-2.

Men on a mission for Bear were Doug (Sleepy time) Mack who scored twice and Brody (Bad Nephew) Neighbour who scored one and added an assist much to the chagrin of his Uncle Mike.

Also chipping in a pair of points was Ian (Heartbreaker) Hannah who scored on a breakaway and George (Ironman) Ryan who added two assists.

Still smarting after last week’s fiasco, BCS was lead by its diabolical duo of serpentine skaters, Jim (Beam me up) Scott and Chad (The Comet) Swanson who both scored goals and seemed to be everywhere on the ice but alas couldn’t solve the Bear riddle for the fourth time this season.

This week in Season 17 (2010): Voted by his peers as the first, second and third Star of the contest was George (Popeye) Paul who threw his Black mates on his back as he fricasseed the Red defence enroute to a spectacular natural hat trick in Blacks 5-2 win over Red.
