Two-time Canadian heavyweight champion Bryan Colwell and Alberta champion Ben Alvarez will headline Sooke Slam Stiff Jab boxing card at the Sooke Community Hall on Oct. 13.
The Sooke Boxing Club is hosting the third annual event.
“The Colwell-Alvarez fight is a match you won’t want to miss,” said Ellen Connor, head coach at the boxing club.
Another big fight on the evening pits B.C. female champion Maddy Swanson against Krishan Lysenko of Nanaimo.
Six other fights are also expected to be on the card.
“We have a really good card. There’s no title on the line. It’s a good club show and good boxing,” Connor said.
Sooke Slam Stiff Jab is the boxing club’s main fundraiser, and this year will be co-sponsored by Sooke Oceanside Brewery. The brewery’s Stiff Jab beer is on sale at the event.
Advance tickets to the event are available at Sooke Boxing Club of Sooke Oceanside Brewery for $20. Tickets are also sold at the door for $25.
