Terrace B.C. skater Teysean Henry was selected as the northwest winner of the 2016 premier’s award for Aboriginal youth excellence in sport.
The award recognizes Henry’s sport achievement and commitment and dedication to her education, culture, leadership and community.
This morning, Nov. 2, she was surprised at school with a visit from BC Lions player J.R. LaRose and former Edmonton Eskimos player Will Loftus.
The football players encouraged her to keep working hard, and congratulated her for her achievement.
“It takes hard work to achieve in a sport. Fellow athletes appreciate that,” said Larose.
An official will present Henry with the award at a ceremony at the Kitsumkalum Community Centre on Nov. 7.
