Justin Hampole will be taking a gold medal home to Prince George for the pre-novice men’s figure skating event; he earned a combined score of 69.91 from Friday and Saturday’s performances.

Vancouver’s Ehren Chang of Vancouver came close with a combined score of 65.66, receiving the silver medal, and Benjamin Mangabat of Surrey earned the bronze medal with a combined score of 54.90. The medals were handed out Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Mission Leisure Centre.

Twelve-year-old Justin had exceptional performances this weekend.

“Certainly this was a good weekend for Justin; he set three personal bests,” said coach Rory Allen.

“It’s always a good feeling to win, winning isn’t everything though. Being at the bottom motivates be to be better,” said Justin.
