Try shooting with a laser rifle at Driftwood Mall this weekend at an event put on by Vancouver Island Biathlon Club.

This is a toonie fundraiser to repair damage, due to the heavy snowfall last winter, to their world-class facility on Mount Washington. “It is a great opportunity to try a new sport for a good cause,” a club spokesperson said.

“Five minutes is all the time it takes to learn how to shoot this type of rifle used at the Olympics. Hot dogs and pop for sale sponsored by Quality Foods. Delicious corn on the cob from Sieffert’s farm. Fun for all the family!”

The event will take place outside the entrance to Quality Foods at Driftwood Mall on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
