First ever Interagency Fun Shoot hits the target

The First Annual Williams Lake Interagency Fun Shoot took place on Sunday, June 10.

The First Annual Interagency Fun Shoot between the Williams Lake RCMP, the conservation officers, the B.C. Sheriffs and the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) took place at the Williams Lake Rod and Gun Club Sunday.

Each of the groups formed a team to compete at the event — a fun pistol shoot between the organizations.

Participants took turns shooting in a variety of different positions.

Terry Chupa, one of the event organizers, said the event was a huge success.

“You’d almost think this has been done a dozen times before,” he said.

To make the event fair for everyone shooters’ scores were broken down into percentages.

Under the RCMP, conservation officer and sheriff rules, RCMP Const. Kevin Black finished in first place, followed by Corp. Jason Pole in second, and EPS shooter Justan Chartier of Prince George in third.

Under the IPSC rules, the tables turned significantly — the advantage going to the IPSC shooters. There, Scott Betts took first, Mark Betts nailed second and Roy Betts placed third.

For team scoring it was the EPS coming in first, followed by the RCMP in second and the conservation officers in third.
