First NHL goal for Dillon

Surrey native scores against the Phoenix Coyotes

Brenden Dillon netted his first goal in the National Hockey League NHL Friday night in Dallas.

The Surrey native beat Phoenix Coyotes goalie Mike Smith with a snapshot from the blue line 12 minutes into the game, giving the Dallas Stars a 2-0 win. The Stars would defeat Phoenix 4-3 in a shootout.

Dillon, in his first season in the NHL, also assisted on a first period goal by Antoine Roussel and completed his “Gordie How Hat Trick” with a fight with Kyle Chipchura in the second period.

The points were the first of his NHL career for the 22 year-old defenceman, a product of the Surrey Minor Hockey Association.
