The 11th Annual Lac la Hache Fathers Day Fishing Derby was a success despite the rain, says Rose Stenberg of Kokanee Bay Resort.
“We sold about 300 tickets, which is about average,” she says, adding there were more than 100 people coming in for prizes.
“I heard the fishing was a little slow, and most of the char were on the smaller side, so people just let them go.
“It was a good weekend. We couldn’t have done it without all the great donations from Williams Lake and 100 Mile House businesses or the volunteers.”
Without the help of the volunteers doing all the little things, Stenberg says the event wouldn’t have run a smoothly as it did.
Dan Stoelwinder of Kamloops won $400 for hooking the largest fish at 18 lb. 4 oz.
Sylvia Tanner of Williams Lake took home $250 for the second largest fish at 14 lb. 5 oz.
Ted Bruce of Williams Lake hooked largest rainbow trout at 7.03 oz., and won $100.
Colton Hicks of Lac la Hache won $100 by bringing in the largest white fish at 1.85 lb.
