It just became easier for aspiring fitness trainers in the Comox Valley to take their first steps to a new career.
The Comox Community Centre, in partnership with Body Blueprint of Victoria, offers BCRPA Fitness Theory and Exercise Physiology, an introductory course to group fitness, weight training, aqua, third age, and personal training.
Body Blueprint founder and director Christina Truscott is scheduled to teach. She has been involved in the fitness industry for over 30 years and has taught thousands of Canadian and international fitness professionals.
Comox Community Centre registered BCRPA Trainer of Fitness Leaders Jill Nelson is a big believer in BCRPA fitness training. “I’ve known Christina for years and she has a real passion for fitness. The extensive yet accessible course material and her patient, engaged instruction is perfect for anyone starting on the path to a career in fitness.”
BCRPA fitness certification, since its inception in 1984, has promoted the highest professional standards for fitness leaders in B.C. and, through its partnership with the National Fitness Leadership Alliance, is recognized nationally.
“Fitness certification is vital to getting a job in the industry,” says Nelson. “It doesn’t matter how much practical experience you have, employers want to see that you are certified. BCRPA certification is one of the most recognized in the industry.”
BCRPA Fitness Theory and Exercise Physiology is offered Friday, Nov. 6, 5:30-9 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The cost is $289 + GST and there is a $40 BCRPA manual that must be purchased on the first night.
