The Comox Valley Raiders Spring Flag Football League is in full swing Saturdays at Woodcote Park in Courtenay.

About 70 youths in the six- to 18-year age bracket are playing in the five-on-five league.

The fast pace of games helps to teach and develop football skills, and familiarizes players with the structure of football. It’s also a great way to make friends and stay active.

Games for the younger ages start at 10 a.m. The older youths play at noon.

Practice nights are Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m.

The Raiders Tackle Football Program runs from late-August to early-November. The co-ed program is for ages nine to 18 years. Peewee and junior bantam levels (nine to 13) play in an Island League. Bantam and midget levels (14-18) play in a blended league containing teams from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
