Flockhart makes a name

For the first time since 2003, University of Idaho women’s soccer opened a season with consecutive draws after a 1-1 tie on Sunday.

Junior forward Chelsea Small scored on an assist from fellow junior and Salmon Arm product Jill Flockhart to help Idaho overcome an early 1-0 deficit in the match.

With her sixth career assist, Flockhart moves into eighth all-time at Idaho in that category.

 

Season ends

At the Salmon Arm Savings & Credit Union Sports Field last Wednesday, Courvas played to a 2-2 draw with the Vernon Turn-Key Controls in North Okanagan Men’s Soccer League action. Turn-Key ended the regular season at 4-6-4, while Courvas went to 7-4-3.

The Davidson & Co. Dynamite FC sealed second place behind idle North Enderby Timber by shelling Nation of Domination Eagle Homes 5-0. The 8-4-2 Nitros’ defenders put up a powerful wall to shut down the 7-6 NOD offence.

The Gibson Cup quarterfinals go tonight.
