Anyone who’s ever wanted to learn how to fly fish from the beach might want to get their feet wet so to speak this Saturday, as class is in session.
The Mid Island Castaways (our local fly fishing club) is holding an educational program called Beach Fishing 101.
Slated for the Qualicum Beach Community Hall (next to the curling rink on Memorial Ave.) July 13 from 1-4 p.m., the course, says MIC’s Bruce Morrison, who chairs the club’s education committee “is for the people who want to learn all about beach fishing, but it’s nearly filled up, there’s only a couple spaces left.”
Cost for the course is $60 which also gets you six free Pink Salmon flies.
As an added bonus, following the course and after lunch MIC’s Courtney Ogilvie will be offering three hours of free lessons focusing on fly casting off the beaches of QB “using single handed, switch or spey rods and utilizing the proper line for best results.”
