The Vernon Flyers beat the Savona Swamp Donkeys 8-7 in the final of the Checker’s Recreational Hockey Tournament men’s Div. 40 final, and not the other way around as was reported in Wednesday’s Morning Star, due to a problem with the game sheet.
Denny Sloughran’s second goal of the game, with seven seconds left, gave the Flyers the win, as they erased a 6-0 deficit. Mike Gilman celebrated his first-ever hockey championship with three goals while Tim Proctor had the other two goals for the undefeated Flyers. The Morning Star apologizes for the error.
