It was cold and wet, but the Marauders were hot.

The Pitt Meadows senior boys’ football team blew out Spectrum of Victoria 36-0 on Friday afternoon.

The Marauder defenders poured through the Spectrum line seemingly at will, and got their second league win of the year in Tier 2 varsity action.

They are now 4-1 overall.

The half-time score was 14-0, but the Marauders came out in the second half and dominated on both sides of the ball.

“Our defense was strong all day, led by Brandon Hunt,  Haydn Barton, Cody Driver and Giovanni Manu, who controlled Spectrum,” said head coach Matt Todd. “Great game all around.  Each week we have been getting better.”

Friday they will be in Vancouver to take on Eric Hamber, and they will play a Nov. 5 game at Timberline in Campbell River.

Titans win Grade 8 rivalry game

The Samuel Robertson Technical Grade 8 boys’ football team took on cross-district rival Pitt Meadows on Monday on the “Titan Turf,” and won the annual grudge match 30-0.

The Titans defence shut out the Marauders, while the offence, led by Adam Jones, was moving the ball by land and by air.

Joel McCormick rushed for two touchdowns to lead the offence.

The Titan defence was led by the strong play and leadership of linebacker Kayle Cowley.

Another key contributor on defense was Mason Hebert, who scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery.

Also contributing on offence with 2 point conversions were Parker Hansen, Braiden Balatti and Jones.

Head coach Mike Jones also noted strong contributions from lineman Evan Kitchener and Linden Peel.

The Titans are now undefeated in AA action. They will play their last regular season game next Monday at Abby Collegiate, before preparing to host a playoff game at home.

SRT teacher Scott Tomlin was full of compliments for both the players and coaching staff after this game.

“This group of kids and coaches, combined with the JV team that is also having a very successful season has SRT football in the best place it has ever been,” he said.
