Serenity put blanket over Fraser River Stars and Bear doubles up BCS

Fraser River dropped below .500 for the first time since October as Serenity built up a 6-zip lead before coasting to an 8-3 victory.

Somehow, the Builders managed to install governors on the supercharged GM duel threat which gave their offense time to shine.

Leading them in the sparkling category was Derek “Bye-Bye” Burdekin, whose hands have finally caught up to his jets as he scored a couple early from in tight.

Keith “The Thief” Burgess continued to impress as he also scored a pair and Chris “Crown” Royle was thankful to escape the cage as he scored once and delivered an airmailed apple that left the sell-out crowd in awe.

Playing like a beast on the blue-line was Cam “Shaft” Graham who scored once and added a pair of helpers and Colin “Clutch” Keis matched “Shafts” output with half the effort.

Just happy to be back on the ice after several weeks on the injury reserve was Nathan “Last” Strand, who despite missing several glorious chances of his own, set up a pair for his line mates.

The Fraser River conundrum will have to wait another week to be solved as they were missing three regulars on defence. One bright spot was Jason “Double J” Johnson, who was involved in all of his team’s production with a goal and a pair of assists.

The contest on the .75 sized rink was a hard-fought battle well into the second half, but Bear wouldn’t be denied a 6-3 victory.

Leading the way for the hottest team in the league was Brad “Naturally Gassed” Neighbour who lit the lamp with an unassisted beauty before notching a pair of equally impressive assists.

Scoring the winning and insurance goals for Bear was Lee “Nitro” Naeth who may have lost a step but still has the howitzer when required.

Eric “Bonsai” Bodman and Brody “Good” Neighbour both scored a goal and an assist as “Bonsai” used an in-turn draw while “Good” used peel weight for his ninth of the season.

Putting in yeoman efforts in the losing cause was Darcy “Doctor” McGillivray, George “Popeye” Paul and Kevin “Nightrider” Hesslegrave who all notched singletons to go with an assist.
