The Pacific Junior Hockey League’s annual Prospects Game will feature four players from the Ridge Meadows Flames.
Ryley Lanthier, Brendan Black, Mathieu Melanson and Brady Buckham have all been chosen to represent the Flames in the game.
The event is designed as a showcase of young talent, and is attended by scouts from the B.C. Hockey League and other higher-level leagues that recruit junior B prospects.
The game will be hosted by the Mission City Outlaws this year, and will be played at the Mission Leisure Centre on Monday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.
Maple Ridge resident Matthew Trulsen, who is playing goal for Mission this year, and leads the team with 21 starts, will also get in the game.
The contest will feature 19 players on each team representing the best young players in each of the Harold Brittain and Tom Shaw conferences.
All-star game
In the PJHL’s annual all-star game on Tuesday night at Burnaby Winter Club, Ian Creamore led all scorers with a hat-trick as the Tom Shaw Conference defeated the Harold Brittain Conference by a football-like score of 16-10.
The two Flames in attendance were team captain Andrew Strelezki and offensive defenceman Ryan Wellburn.
Connor Alderson, Alex McGovern and former Flame Brad Crompton each scored twice for the Shaw All-Stars.
Matt Oliver and Quinncy Leroux replied with two goals each for the Brittain side.
• On Friday night the Flames host the Delta Ice Hawks at Cam Neely Arena at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday they are in Mission against the Outlaws.
The Flames, at 16-16-2-2, remain third in the Brittain conference.
Mission, at 14-19-0-3, is fourth.
