On Oct. 2, The Fourth Phase, the latest Travis Rice snowboard flick, will be premiering at the Vogue Theatre. Organizers are hoping for a big turn out to the premiere, as all funds from the evening will go to support the effort to rebuild the Harvey Pass warming hut.
Adam Laurin, owner of Commit Snow and Skate, says although the movie can be streamed for free, there is a benefit to coming out to the show.
“The movie actually premiers world wide for free, it streams on Red Bull TV at 9 p.m. on October 2, so the benefit of coming to watch it at the theatre is that you get to support a good cause, see it on the big screen and have a couple of beers with your friends,” he said, adding he is hoping the event raises between $2,000 and $2,500 for the hut.
According to Ryland Nelson, a volunteer in the rebuild efforts, the event will help them reach their fundraising goal.
“We may be able to reach most of our fundraising needed from this one event. Hopefully it’s very popular and we sell out and we will be well on our way to getting this hut built for this winter,” he said. “We are looking to raise enough to be able to purchase the things we are not able to get donated. We have had lots of really good support from Home Hardware about getting things at cost, but there are definitely going to be some expenses.”
The hut is being built and managed by the Fernie Trails Ski Touring Club.
The Fourth Phase is the latest in a series of films featuring professional snowboarder, Travis Rice. The movie joins The Art of Flight and That’s It, That’s All as Rice’s trademark movies. It is produced by Red Bull and Brainfarm Productions, which is a production company based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Rice’s hometown.
Tickets for the premier are $20 for adults and $15 for anyone under 19. Ticket price includes two refreshments, supplied by Fernie Brewing Co. and the chance to win raffle prizes. Tickets are at Commit or Boardstiff.
