Larissa Franklin of Maple Ridge will be part of Canada’s premier women’s softball event this week.
The speedster will be with Team Canada tonight when they take on Australia at 7 p.m. at the Canada Open Fastpitch International Championship in Surrey.
The team also played last night against the California A’s, but results were not known in time for publication.
Other games on the schedule: Thursday, 6:30 p.m. vs Japan; Friday, 1 p.m,. vs Venezuela and 6:30 p.m. vs U.S.

The Canadian girls arrived in Surrey on Monday, following the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City.
Canada finished in a three-way tie for first with Japan and Team USA after the preliminaries, but lost the bronze medal match to Australia 4-3 in extra innings.
