Free membership on the line at 108 golf contest

Closest to the pin wins free membership

Even with the season end at the 108 Mile Resort Golf Course just around the bend, there is still time for one more event.

On Oct. 10, Thanksgiving Day, they will be hosting a closest-to-the-pin contest with a grand prize of a 2012 golf membership at the resort.

The 108 Resort Extravaganza takes place from noon to 3 p.m. at the 10th hole where $20 will buy participants three tries to land their ball closest to the pin, 135 yards away.

Second prize is a two-night stay at the Merritt Golf and Country Club, with golf and a power cart included, and the third prize winner gets a golf shirt from the 108 pro shop.

The event will kick-start the resort’s 2012 membership drive and resort manager Jeff Kendy says he is excited about their new drop-in annual membership from $1,100 to $750.

“That makes us the cheapest 18-hole membership in B.C. We saw our membership increase by 20 per cent this year and we hope to double it next year.”

Anyone who buys a membership during the contest is also eligible to win other prizes.

First prize is a reimbursement of their membership dues, second is a TaylorMade Burner driver and third place is a one-year couples’ pass for the 108 driving range.
