The Fulton Maroons bowed 4-2 to South Kamloops Titans in Saturday’s final of the Okanagan Valley Junior Girls Soccer Championships at McArthur Island Sports Centre in Kamloops
Cayleigh Graham scored on a penalty shot and then again on a shot from top of the 18, for Fulton’s goals.
“I was extremely impressed with the play of our defensive line consisting of Madison Catt, Rachel Hofer, Nicole Doerges, Nicole Olson, and Kayli and Cassidy Breitkreurtz and Bri Brown – they all stepped up and played tough aggressive soccer and limited the shots on net,” said Fulton head coach Sharon Shaigec.
Shaigec also gave props to midfielder Ailish Curran and Abbey Hughes, Graham and Paige Latta for production on offence.
Fulton edged NorKam Saints 2-1 in their opener, with Paige Latta scoring in regulation and Mackenzie Morin converting on the seventh shot of the shootout after double overtime.
Fulton got stellar leadership and defensive play from Madison Catt.
The Maroons lost 4-1 to the Titans (Graham goal) and iced Westsyde Whundas 3-0 in the semifinals (Graham 2G, Latta 1G and Chayse Newman recorded the shutout.)
