Fun day for tae kwon-do

Sundance Taekwon-Do will host a fundraiser today featuring a silent auction, mini golf, face painting, and taekwondo demonstrations.

Sundance Taekwon-Do will host a fundraiser today featuring a silent auction, mini golf, face painting, and taekwondo demonstrations.

The fundraiser is for Sundance athletes to participate in the BC Taekwon-Do Cup in Prince George. It is located  in the parking lot of NAPA Auto Parts, 2905A 43 Ave.

Participants of Sundance Taekwon-Do achieved medals at the Regina Sportsplex recently.

Sundance sent a team of four competitors and each made it to the podium.

Elyse Johnston claimed gold in the Junior Girls Red Belt Sparring.

Demitri Hampton got a silver medal for the Pre-Junior Boys Green Belt Sparring and Owen Lewis took bronze for the Pee-wee Boys Blue Belts.

Instructor David White took bronze in the men’s 4th to 6th Dan patterns category.

Athletes were also collecting points towards a national level.

“Our athletes performed very well and worked very hard leading up to this event. They all represented out community well,” said White.

White is competing in the upcoming International Taekwon-Do Federation World Cup this fall. The BC Taekwon-Do Cup is June 11.
