The Team B.C. Century 21 Junior A Fury scored early and often as they schooled the TORL Tween AA squad 10-2 in ringette exhibition play Saturday at Wesbild Centre.
Brenna Beck stuffed a beauty off a feed from Bailey Williamson 14 seconds in to put the Fury on the board, followed with a second quick goal by Hannah Popilchak, from Maddie Powls.
Ava Haldane opened TORL’s account, assisted by Saige Woodliffe. Beck, from Taylor Gray, and Sydney Harder, on a drop pass from Riley Martian, made it 4-2.
Singles by the Fury’s Gray and AJ Jacura, and by TORL defender Saylor Martian, had it 6-2 for the Juniors at half.
TORL netminder Maggie Morning made plenty of nice saves, but couldn’t stop Harder, Beck, with her hat-trick goal, Katelyn Paulin and Kennedy Pope. Billy Cawthorn was fabulous in net.
The Vernon Cornerstone Dental Rush continued the domination of their only Tween A adversary in the Okanagan, grounding the Kelowna Impact 4-2 Saturday at Priest Valley Arena.
Backed by netminder Garrett Adams, Vernon was able to take some chances offensively, which led to goals by Alyssa Racine (from Saige Woodliffe), Kendra Ostafie (from Alex Drury), Shelby Conners (from Saylor Martian) and Drury from Woodliffe.
The Vernon Newalta Renegades fell 8-5 to West Kelowna in Tween B action Saturday at PV.
The Renegades got a good showing from netminder Aleisha Smith, with offence coming from Miranda Chapple (2+2), Demi Williamson (2G) and Marika Munroe. Makayla Vanderzwan added two assists and Mason Christensen was excellent on defence.
The Vernon Advertising Works Petite Rebels fell 8-7 to the host Kelowna Black Sunday at the Capital News Centre.
Alyssa Carter led the Rebels with three goals, Abygayle Williamson had two and an assist, and Madison Fox and Georgia Lannon each had one.
Hailey Quiring chipped in with a couple of helpers and Josey Nerling had one. Katie Finlayson, Julie Francis Kyra Olsen, Ashly Shwaluk, Katie Simpson and Clancy Coulter added plenty of hustle in support of netminder Liam Van Wyk.
In Novice action, the Vernon Orcas lost 13-4 to Kelowna on Saturday.
Logan Thoma netted a pair, with Sierra Lochhead and Paige Neufeld adding a goal and assist each. Rhys Taylor-Hawes and Chayse Krause also helped out with assists. Arianna Kositsin faced countless shots.
In Bunny play, the Vernon Blue Lightning played hard in a 11-8 loss to the Kelowna Black Blasters on Sunday.
Aimee Skinner had a goal and two assists, Makenna Jackson pocketed a hat trick and her sister Kennedy also scored. Jordan Tung, Kristen Francks and Tristan Dewitt rounded out the Bolts’ attack, with assists going to Makenna Christensen and Emily Gilman. Madison Edgar was outstanding in net, and Sasha Austin helped keep the score close.
The Vernon Bunny Black Panthers split their team weekend debut, falling 6-3 to Vernon Blue Saturday.
Panther scoring came from Hillary Quiring, with a pair, and Sierra Fernley. Strong defensive play was contributed by Spohie Winstanley, Lauren Cooke and Rhys Leibel.
Quiring turned the hat trick as the Cats rebounded with a 7-4 win over Kelowna Red. Brianna Visser and Fernley each netted a pair, while Jasmine Horton and Katrina Winstanley played strong defence.
