Family, friends and teammates of Robin Carey packed the gymnasium of the Les Passmore Centre on Thursday for the 13-year-old’s memorial.
The Rock Heights middle school student and Hampton Little League alumni died on March 23 from a fatal case of strep throat.
People filled the seats, lined the walls and were out the door for the memorial.
Memorabilia from Carey’s school work, art, baseball and soccer accomplishments covered tables and poster boards. As messages of love and support were written of her seats were filled, the walls were lined, and
Carey was a terrific baseball player and athlete who, in 2015, moved from playing with boys at Hampton Little League to playing with girls and represented Canada at the Little League Softball World Series in 2016 and 2017. She also volunteered with the Hampton’s Challenger Baseball program for two years.
Carey would have been part of the Lambrick Park baseball academy starting in her Grade 9 year, in September.
Dozens of Carey’s teammates wore their jerseys from Team Canada world series team, Gorge soccer team and the 2004 Devils fastpitch team.
