The performance, featuring the second round of Pool B contestants, was a study in rough dismounts, reshuffling the deck of competitors for Monday’s finals.

Many athletes were at the top of their game. Ladies barrel racing saw an amazing run by Becky Fuson, from Conrad, Montana, with a 15.918-second finish. Heath DeMoss, from Heflin, Louisiana, took top place in saddle bronc riding for the second day in a row, coming in with 87 points. Not quite the 91-point performance the crowd saw the night before, but still a first place finish.

Bull riding saw a major upset when Chase Outlaw, winner of last year’s $44,000 prize and a favourite for this year’s competition, failed to place. Instead, Wacey Finkbeiner, from Ponoka, Alberta, took first in Pool B bull riding yesterday, with 86 points.

The rodeo finals take place Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., where competitors will go head-to-head for $328,000 in prize money.
