Gators hoops squads rule Langley

Walnut Grove teams won three district high school titles last week.

High school basketball bragging rights were at stake during the Langley District playoffs last week at the Langley Events Centre.

Grade 8 girls

Langley Christian Lightning 40, Walnut Grove Gators 16

Gators top FV East

Meanwhile, the Walnut Grove Gators senior boys downed Abbotsford’s WJ Mouat Hawks  92-81 on Saturday to capture the Fraser Valley East title.

The Gators are competing in the qualifiers for the Fraser Valley Quad A championships, that get underway this week.

The WGSS senior boys open the Fraser Valleys on Friday at Walnut Grove Secondary against the winner of Wednesday’s Sardis/Fraser Heights match-up. Opening tip-off at WGSS is 8:15 p.m.

As of Feb. 9, the Gators were third in the B.C. Quad A rankings behind the top-ranked Kelowna Owls and Vancouver’s Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs.
