Home runs by Craig Snyder and Steve Lingren powered Gord Closson Forest Products to a 7-0 win over Baker Supply in a Nanaimo Senior Men’s Fastball League game at Waldon Park on Tuesday.

Snyder hit a two-run blast in the first inning, and Lingren added a solo shot in the second. Snyder finished the night 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs, while Lingren went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and one run.

Seven players combined for nine hits for GCFP. Chris Kline went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, and Dave Devana was also 2-for-3 with a run. Tylor Branzsen was 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Dan Whiteford and Ryan Kline were both 1-for-2 with one run apiece.

Snyder also pitched, striking out eight over five innings while giving up a single hit.

Last Thursday, Snyder ended up on the wrong side of a pitchers’ duel as he gave up just two hits and struck out 12 in a 2-1 loss to Lantzville Pub. His counterpart, Bailey Hamilton, struck out 13 Duncan players and gave up three hits for the win. Neither pitcher was charged with an earned run.

Chris Kline, Trevor Gicas and Branzsen were all 1-for-3, and Branzsen scored GCFP’s lone run.

The NSMFL playoffs will begin next Tuesday with all four teams in action at Wheatsheaf Pub in Cedar.  The next two games in GCFP’s best-of-three series will go on Wednesday and, if needed, Thursday, all at Waldon Park at 7 p.m.
