Generals fall 4-2 in Campbell River

Junior hockey team returns to Oceanside Place Arena for home rematch Saturday against league-leaders

Despite being outshot 56-17, the Oceanside Generals Junior B hockey team carried a tie score into the final period before finally dropping a 4-2 decision to the Campbell River Storm at Rod Brind’Amour Arena Friday night.

Second-period goals from Brandon Roberge and Taylor Olson erased an early 2-0 Storm advantage and sent the teams into the second intermission tied at 2.

But Dom Kolbeins scored in the opening minute of the third to put the hosts back in front, and both teams’ defenses took over from there. Campbell River’s final score came on an empty-net tally with 56 seconds to play.

Gens goalie Matt Henwood made 53 saves.

The game was the only one played last week by the Generals (2-4-0-1), who return home to host the Storm (5-1-0-0) in a rematch Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Oceanside Place Arena.
