The skate with the Save–On–Foods Oceanside Generals was a hit with both fans and players last weekend.

Saturday was a free skate at Oceanside Place as fans young and old had a chance to skate with the Generals players, who had a great time playing two games of shinny and interacting with their fans.

“It was lots of fun, it’s great to give back to the community,” forward Sebastian Powsey said.

“To be able to interact with all these kids who are waiting when we come off the ice to get a high five, it’s a lot of fun. Hanging out with them and getting to know them, it’s great and nothing feels better than that.”

There were tickets being handed out to the fans for future games and there was even one lucky fan that was on the receiving end of an Oceanside Generals jacket, which ended up being signed by all the players on the team.

“We got to meet a lot of people and I think it showed a different side of the guys that nobody gets to see,” forward P.J. Heger said.

“It was a lot of fun to give back to the fans and the community like that and to be able to be involved in something like that, it’s really special and we all had a blast doing it.”
