The Save-On-Foods Oceanside Generals kick off their 25th anniversary season tomorrow (Friday) with a pre-season game against the Nanaimo Buccaneers in Nanaimo.
After last weekend’s training camp, the Generals have narrowed their roster down and have the team in place for the start of their pre-season games.
In total, the Generals will play five exhibition games before the season kicks off on September 11 against the defending Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) and Cyclone Taylor Cup champions, the Campbell River Storm.
“We had a good camp,” defenseman Chandler Bruyckere said.
“We’re going to be a skilled, tough team. Coach Knight brings out that hard work aspect of the game and told us we’re going to be that team that nobody wants to play against because we’ll be in good shape and tough to get past.”
“I’ve got a great feeling about this season, it’s going to be good,” Bruyckere said.
The Generals play their first home exhibition game next week on Wednesday night (August 26), when they host the Nanaimo Buccaneers.
Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at Oceanside Place in Parksville.
