With main camp for the Oceanside Generals Jr. Hockey Club just around the corner, those close to the local Jr. B team have been busy gearing up for another campaign.
The squad takes to the ice at Oceanside Place for its annual main camp Aug. 16-18, and team secretary Elizabeth Cudmore, part of a dedicated team of volunteers, said the coaching staff “were extremely happy with the talent at prospect camp and are looking forward to seeing everyone, including our returning players back in action after a summer hiatus.”
Cudmore said 50 players have been invited to main camp including around 15 returning and affiliate players.
In the meantime, the community owned organization is looking for volunteers “to come out and be part of our team.”
The Generals are looking for medical trainers, athletic trainers, anthem singers, equipment managers, game night volunteers, special promotions, game night coordinators and last but certainly not least, billet homes.
Anyone interested in helping out can do so through the team’s web site (www.oceansidegenerals.com) or by calling Cudmore at 250-240-5535.
In other news, the Generals have also released their home schedule for the 2012/2014 VIJHL regular season.
Oceanside kicks off the regular season at home Saturday Sept. 7 when they host the Nanaimo Buccaneers.
Save-On-Foods will once again sponsor the home opener and will be giving away free tickets to the game. Read future editions of The NEWS for more details.
