B.C. Lions great Geroy Simon, a Cloverdale-area resident, is among athletes to be celebrated during the BC Sports Hall of Fame’s Banquet of Champions in Vancouver on April 12.

The hall’s 51st induction class includes Simon, hockey player Mark Recchi, equestrian event hosts George and Dianne Tidball, football backer David Sidhoo and others.

Induction to the BC Sports Hall of Fame recognizes “extraordinary achievement in British Columbia’s athletic community” in the categories of athlete, builder, team, pioneer and media.

The Banquet of Champions’ new presenting sponsor is Vanguard Mortgage Investment Corporation, a Surrey-based company.

“The Hall celebrates athletic excellence in BC, and acts as a beacon for thousands of youth across the province,” stated Moe Eskandarpour, company president and CEO. “We are proud to stand alongside them in their pursuit to honour the past and inspire the future.”
