Sharon Kinnaird runs the ‘pebble can’ at the Burns Lake curling rink on Oct. 27 2012.
The rink surface is nearing completion and the curling club will hold a maintenance clinic this weekend.
The club will rely on volunteer maintenance this year, so it’s important that people come out and learn how to maintain a curling rink. The new surface required over 100 hours of volunteer work over the past couple of weeks.
The pebbling that Kinnaird is doing flash freezes the string in place so that the surface can receive more skiffs of water.
