Ty Ronning scored with less than four minutes remaining in the third period to send the hometown Vancouver Giants to 5-4 win over the Kelowna Rockets Friday in WHL action at the Langley Events Centre.

The Rockets (26-17-4-0), who have lost three straight games, battled back from 4-1 second-period deficit on goals by Cal Foote, Kyle Topping and Rodney Southam.

Ronning put the Giants back on top to stay at 16:35 of the third period with his 19th goal of the season.

Calvin Thurkauf, with his 21st of the season, also scored for the Rockets, who were without forwards Reid Gardiner and Nolan Foote for the second straight game due to injury. Centre Dillon Dube also sat for Kelowna.

Brodan Salmond made 20 saves for the Rockets, who outshot Vancouver 36-25.

Kelowna returns to action Saturday at Prospera Place against the Portland Winterhawks.
