Giants equipment manager moves up

Brodie St. Jacques has accepted a position with the NHL Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver Giants equipment manager Brodie St. Jacques has accepted a position with the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks. The announcement was made by the Giants on Monday, June 26.

A native of Edmonton, St. Jacques has served as the Giants’ equipment manager for the last two seasons.

“I’m very grateful for my time with the Giants and would like to thank the Toigo family, Dale Saip, Barclay Parneta, Michael Dyck, Adam Maglio, Mike Burnstein, all the other staff, and of course the Giants players for an amazing two years,” St. Jacques said.

St. Jacques, 29, worked more than 150 games for the Giants, in addition to the CHL Top Prospects Game, and also assisted in Kamloops for the 2023 Memorial Cup.

“We are incredibly proud to see Brodie move on to the NHL with the Canucks,” said Giants General Manager Barclay Parneta.

“Junior hockey isn’t just about advancing players to the next level, but staff as well,” Parneta added.

“The Canucks are getting more than just a knowledgeable and hard-working individual; they’re also getting a great person.”

St. Jacques, joined the G-Men in 2021 after spending the previous two seasons in the BCHL with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Prior to his move to B.C. he spent two seasons with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (2017-2019). He also played three seasons (2011-2014) in the Capital Junior Hockey League with Strathcona and North Edmonton.

Giants preseason set

Giants announced their four-game preseason schedule on Monday.

G-Men will play three games at Lower Mainland locations, plus one road game in Kelowna.

Their preseason campaign begins in Port Coquitlam on Sept. 8, hosting the Prince George Cougars, with puck drop at 7 p.m.

Sept. 10, the Giants face off against the Victoria Royals in Ladner at 4 p.m.

Vancouver then travel to Kelowna to play the Rockets on Sept. 15 and wrap up their preseason on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Maple Ridge against the Kamloops Blazers. Game time is 7 p.m.

The 2023-24 WHL regular season schedule will be unveiled Tuesday, June 27.
