The Golden Kicking Horse Alpine Team (GKHAT) wrapped up it’s regular season in March with a club-wide dual slalom and ski cross race at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

The Catamount ski area was filled with smiles and excitement as the 150 racers cycled through the two race courses for the day, racing teammates, friends, and parents.

To celebrate the season, the day wrapped up with the club’s annual year-end banquet that evening. This year’s GKHAT award winners were: U6 most improved: Maya Oxner and Blake Page, U8 most improved: Nya Soper and Ryan Atkinson, U10 most improved: Piper Marchant and Maddock Goolcharan, U12 most improved: Anna Willox, Tyler Burns, Liam Duggan, and Tarik VanWieren. Evelyn Hunter was awarded the William Wedgy Award, as the athlete with the most spirit, enthusiasm, and fellowship. The Peter Bowle-Evans Memorial Award was given to Mia Cholo, for demonstrating dedication to the sport, a love for skiing, and commitment to the club.

The GKHAT U12 team will wrap up their season at the Kootenay Zone Slalom Finals in Fernie on April 6 and 7.
