Fran Hume Memorial Shootout
This fun, three-week, two-person team, cumulative score competition and is considered by most to be the highlight of the year for the ladies. The first week is a Scramble, thought to be the least stressful format of the three, but very important to get the competitive juices flowing.
Week two is Best Ball, perhaps a bit more challenging. Finally week three is Alternate Shot, which as they say, “separates the men from the boys” and is of course the most challenging and humbling format of the three. (Apologies for my political incorrectness, but you get the point).
Weekly low net winners were: (1) Scramble – Lori Cameron and Rose Jacobson; (2) Best Ball – Rosslyn O’Rourke and Gene Renaud; (3) Alternate shot – Gillian Iddiols and Paula Mowatt.
Overall Champions
The team of Rose Jacobson and Lori Cameron posted the lowest cumulative net score for the three weeks. Other winners were:
1st – gross Rosslyn O’Rourke and Gene Renaud; net Bernice Hendersen and Wendy Dowe. 2nd – gross Janet Edwards and Judy Brown; net Gillian Iddiols and Paula Mowatt; 3rd -gross Leslie Hauser and Kelly Gibb; net Irene Perry and Pat Verchere.
A delicious turkey dinner with all the fixings, prepared and served by Ben Gill Catering and his staff, was enjoyed by all. Thanks, and welcome to you and your staff for joining us at Glacier Greens this year.
Thank you to Steve Bailey and his crew for providing us with a well-maintained golf course on which to play. You have got to be the friendliest ground crew in the Valley, always ready with a wave and/or a smile.
Thank you to Bill Kelly and his pro shop staff for always being there for the ladies and going that extra mile for us. You really are appreciated.
Mother Nature was not always kind to the Tuesday Ladies this year, resulting in many cancellations of play (seven in total) due to wind and rain. Our numbers weren’t large but despite that, all who came out and supported the ladies club had a great year.
Thank you to Rosslyn O’Rourke for taking the reins last minute as Ladies Director, and for the countless hours she puts in each week. Also thank you to the ladies executive and all other volunteers who helped to make this year a success. Well done to you all.
Last but not least, thank you to the Record for publishing our weekly write-ups and other special events. Until next year….
