Yetis to meet Nanaimo Buccaneers in VIJHL semifinals

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings’ second-round playoff schedule has been announced.

The Yetis swept the Oceanside Generals 4-0 in their opening round series to become the first team to advance in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League post-season play.

Barring a major upset in the Nanaimo Buccaneers vs. Kerry Park Islanders series (the Bucs lead 3-0 with game four going Tuesday), the Yetis will meet Nanaimo in round two.

Game #1 goes Tuesday, March 5 in Nanaimo at 7:15 p.m.; game #2 Thursday, March 7 in Nanaimo 7:15 p.m.; game #3 Saturday, March 9 in Courtenay 7:30 p.m.; game #4 Tuesday, March 12 in Courtenay time TBA; game #5 Thursday, March 14 in Nanaimo; game #6 Saturday, March 16 in Courtenay 7:30 p.m.; game #7 date TBA in Nanaimo.

In the South Island playoffs, Victoria Cougars lead Peninsula Panthers 2-1 with game #4 going Monday and Saanich Braves lead Westshore Wolves 3-1 with game #4 going Tuesday.

The VIJHL champion will be joined by the KIJHL and PJHL champions and the host Glacier Kings at the Cyclone Taylor Cup (B.C. Jr. championship) April 11-4 in Courtenay.
