Abby Majeski won two gold medals as Glacier Gymnastics strutted its stuff at the provincial championships.

Majeski took first place in the bars and beam events in the Level 6, 11-year-old division. She was part of 13 gymnasts and one trampolinist who competed for Glacier in Port Coquitlam on April 7 to 9.

All the gymnasts’ performances seamlessly fit in with the Lower Mainland and other B.C. clubs. The Glacier team brought home eight medals, 23 top-10 placements ribbons and six all-around awards.

“The coaching team is very pleased to have the gymnasts win so many top-10 placements,” said Sandra Long, Glacier Gymnastics’ head coach.

“At the provincial championships, the categories are very large, running in the 30s and up to 40. So a top-10 finish is a big accomplishment. And it also shows that our gymnasts are strong and accomplished on all the apparatus events.”

Elsewhere in the Level 6 category, 11-year-old division, first time provincial competitors Aurora Panko-Dool and Olivia Bezaire each claimed a silver medal. Panko-Dool won for her dynamic bar routine and Bezaire for her explosive vault.

In the 13 and up division, Gwen McCrory and Elisa Clark tied for the silver medal for their elegant beam routines. In the Level 7 category, 12-year-old division, Dafni van Hellemond took home the silver medal for her confident floor routine, and in the Level 3 Trampoline event, Matthew Bullen performed a solid routine and claimed the bronze medal.
