Golden Ears Havoc headed to Cup final

The Golden Ears Havoc U-18 girls’ soccer team is returning to the Coastal Cup finals for the fourth consecutive year after defeating the Point Grey Pumas in a 3–1 semi-final win at Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary School on Sunday.

The match was a replay of last year’s Coastal Cup final, which saw the Havoc go down in defeat to the Pumas in overtime.

The teams had to contend with driving wind and rain, but the Havoc made the most of the miserable conditions early, potting a pair first half goals thanks to Nicole Aitcheson and Jamie Foster. The Pumas roared back in the second half and scored a quick goal to draw within one, but the Havoc held out for the win. The Havoc defense was led by Danielle Roison, Hailey Dunn, Caroline Doyle, Jessica Thompson and goalie Courtney Cadwallader, who worked hard to hold off the tying goal.

A late goal by Marina Casol helped seal the win.

The Havoc will face Coquitlam in the Coastal Cup finals April 17, their sixth championship appearance in the past 10 years.
