The Golden Rockets rallied with third-period goals less than a minute apart to brush back the North Okanagan Knights 4-3 in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play Saturday night in Golden.

North Okanagan (3-18-1-2) had built up a 3-2 lead on Jordan Passmore’s eighth of the season 1:51 into the final frame, but Golden (12-10-0-3) responded with singles from Cole Mckechney and Braeden Allkins, on the powerplay, to secure the win.

Austin Fournier (6th goal) and Mckechney swapped singles in period one, and singles by the Steam’s Matthew Krusky and Knights’ Logan Geefs (6th) had the score knotted 2-2 after 40 minutes.

Drawing assists for North Okanagan were Austin Garrington, Passmore, Dryden Profeit, netminder Mitch Profeit and Geefs.

Mitch Profeit, who was the backup for the Vernon Vipers for their BCHL game against the Victoria Grizzlies Sunday, finished with 33 saves. Magnus Viberg made 15 stops for his eighth win.

The Knights end a five-game road schedule tonight against the league-leading Osoyoos Coyotes (20-4-0-1) at the Sun Bowl. They visited the Kelowna Chiefs (8-13-2-1-1) Tuesday in Rutland.

North Okanagan ends the month with a three-game home stand starting Friday (7:30 p.m.) against the Revelstoke Grizzlies (9-10-2-2) at Nor-Val Sports Centre.

Vernon’s Cole Woodliffe recorded a four-point night as the Summerland Steam doubled the Kimberley Dynamiters 6-3 Sunday in Summerland.

Woodliffe drew assists on Summerland’s first two goals and then buried two of his own, including the winner midway through the second period.

The 17-year-old forward leads the 12-7-0-1 Steam with 11 goals and nine assists through 19 games.
