The Golds capped off their exhibition season with a come from behind win over the South Kamloops Titans.
On the opening drive of the game the Golds found themselves on third down and deep when quarterback Jayden Murano threw an introspection.
South Kamloops returned the interception for a touchdown putting the Golds in an early 7-0 hole.
“The boys didn’t let it get them down as we marched the entire field and capped it off with an eight yard touchdown run,” said Golds head coach Jordan Grieve.
Running back Tyler Chartier punched the ball into the endzone getting the Golds back onto even terms.
The Golds then took the lead when Murano and Chartier hooked up for a 40 yard major.
Mourato wrapped up the scoring in the fourth quarter with a nine-yard touchdown run after a couple of key catches by wideout Noah Dies.
Led by middle linebacker Mark Podschadly the Golds defence was solid and only allowed a single field goal on the day, as they doubled up on the Titans 20-10.
“The boys have continued to find a way to win and hopefully we can carry it over into the season,” said Grieve.
After finishing the exhibition season with a respectable 3-1 record the Golds are looking forward to the start of the regular season in the AA Varsity league. They will kick off the regular season on the road in Surrey against Holy Cross this Friday.
“It will be a great test for us as they are a very good program.”
