Kelowna Secondary School was the highest finishing local golf team at the B.C. School Sports AAA golf championships, held this week at the Squamish Golf and Country Club.
The two round event saw KSS finish in eighth place in the team portion while Mount Boucherie was 16th.
KSS’s total of plus-25 put them in a mass of schools in the middle of the pack. Just two shots better and the school would have been in the top four teams.
Individually Jake Gilchrist was the highest finishing player with rounds of 78 and 77.
Meanwhile, the Immaculate Mustangs finished second to Selkirk Secondary at the single-A championships held at the Osoyoos Golf and Country Club this week.
Cole Baldigara claimed the individual title by two strokes with rounds of 72 and 75.
Lauren Rutherglen finished T-7 with rounds of 75 and 83.
Also this week, George Elliot Secondary in Winfield took part in the AA golf championships at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort.

After the first month of the Okanagan Golf Club’s Molson Tour, Mike Turner leads the point parade as the tour has passed its one-third mark, heading towards match play playoffs later in the summer.
There are seven more qualifying rounds to come prior to five grueling weeks of match play.
Turner has a one point lead on Dave Adams and Lance Menzies while Dale Olson is two points back and Kelly Quist rounds out the top five.

Sunset Ranch Golf Club members John Sissons and June Klarenbeek had a memorable rounds of golf in the last week.
Klarenbeek started things off a week ago when she stepped up to the 8th hole, a 105 yard par 3 for the ladies at Sunset, Klarenbeek chose her pitching wedge.
And it was the right choice.
Klarenbeek nailed a hole-in-one with the wedge witnessed by playing partners Cathy Beebe, Pat Stimson and Verna Klarenback.
Then on Wednesday it was Sissons turn to fire an ace.
Sissons grabbed a four-iron for his tee shot on the par 3 15th.
From 184 yards his shot was straight and true and ended up in the cup for a hole-in-one.

Chad Scott and William Deck of the Harvest were the highest finishing local team at the the 2014 TaylorMade and Adidas Golf PGA of BC Tournament of Champions at University Golf Club in Vancouver.
Scott and Deck teamed up for a score of 68, two strokes off the pace, to put them into a tie for fourth place.
Three Kelowna teams tied for 12th as Rob Anderson and Michael Byland (Kelowna Golf and Country Club), Bruce Vermee and Trevor Bloom (Sunset Ranch) and Jon Kadin and Alastair Walker (Gallagher’s Canyon) carded 70s.

Harvest teaching pro Teaching Pro Chris Hinton needed a playoff but won the Rotary Kelowna pro-am held at the Harvest earlier this month. The 22nd annual Pro-Am charity golf tournament. The tournament committee reported they have already surpassed their goal of raising $125,000. The primary recipient of funds from the 2014 event will be the Kelowna General Hospital Heart & Surgery Centre.
